It's been a long time since feeling this inspired. I attended the Avalon Ball this past weekend and had a grand time. When I got back to work, the salon had received a ton of upcoming hair events. I'm particular about which of these shows to go to, however, the 2012 Davines show seems fun. I checked out some of the photos from this past years' event, and wow! I'm truly inspired.
I've had every style you can possibly imagine. Super long (to the knees) to shaved. Bobbed, pixie cut, spiked, mohawked, shaved one side, shaved two sides, shaved all around, dread extensions, braid extensions, braid and dread extensions together, bangs, no bangs, betty bangs, the no bang bang, angled bangs, every shaped bangs, and don't get me started on colors. It has been done already. Even colors without a proper name.
I've been growing my hair with a similar color pattern for the past 10 years. And lately, I've been sporting this cool, long version, a symmetrical cut.

My new challenge is to combine long and short hairstyles.
The photo above is of me today. Nothing special. It was a bit windy. I will be documenting these fun changes. It's the highest consentration of botanically infused products out there and they do NOT use a comb when cutting the hair. Which makes sense. If you wear you hair curly all the time, why stretch out the curl? It just creates more frizz. There is absolutely no sulfates in their cleansing/conditiong agents. NONE! Cleansing is done with the product + friction. Sound crazy? Well maybe...all the curly girls and guys need to retrain the way they take care of their hair. The no sulfates plus botanical infusion creates moisture moisture moisture. I had to get reaquainted with my body a little bit more after session six. It didn't take long though. Afterwards, I felt like a well oiled machine! I now realize how sessions 4,5,and 6 should be done soon after each other.

Apparently session six, for most, is more relaxing. Hardly any movement is called for and you are laying on your stomach the whole time. For me...this was the most intense so far. I've heard people talk about "pain" while undergoing "rolfing" or Structural Integration (SI). It's not about the pain. It's about being and feeling like a new, well balanced body, free from pain. The amount of intensity I have felt during my sessions so far does not amount to how I'm feeling now...free! I'm experiencing ease of movement and better posture, especially with the sitting and standing movement exercises I try to remember on a daily basis. By the way, I'm getting a seat wedge for driving. I want to maintain comfort in my newly aligned structure ;) It keeps your body upright while driving. It's good for any and every seat...but I'm not going to be that anal and take it everywhere.

Today, about a week after session 6, I had a pretty good work out. Way more than I've had in months...and it felt wonderful. I did my work out with such ease. I was extremely impressed. I thought for sure I'd be out of breath and have some tightening somewhere in my body. But no! The rotation in all my joints were smooth. Especially in my hips, back, and shoulders.

More info about Structural Integration visit ramadavis.com

Cliftons Cafeteria

http://www.glamourembalmer.com/2/post/2010/04/cliftons-cafeteria.html

http://www.glamourembalmer.com/2/post/2010/04/cliftons-cafeteria.html#comments

Uncategorized

 [...]

My dearest suitor took me to lunch at Cliftons Cafeteria in Downtown Los Angeles. Next were the little salads. Some more desserts and finally to the entrees. Actually after the entrees, the line ended with even more desserts, in case you didn't catch them earlier, before we hit the cashier. I had a wet roast beef, mashed potatos and a cucumber salad. He had the cod fish, mixed bean salad and we shared, my favorite, coconut cream pie.

I didn't realise how large this venue is. Since we drove, I bacsically take everything I might possibly wear. There are at least two wardrobe changes a day. For me three, since I was working doing hair. Work, daytime and my after five outfit. That goes for lashes as well. This is one event where "there is no such thing as too much rouge", said by a dear friend whom I first went with back in 2002.

Daily events to expect are shopping. Vintage vendors new and used. Altough, not as many vintage as I remember. There were a lot more reproductions. Music and bands. Gambling of course. I try to win back what I spend on shopping. Most of the time it works! ;) Jive class, fashion show, car show, burlesque, and the tiki pool party.
There are so much more to the music and bands. I got to see Deke Dickerson, Chuck Berry and Wanda Jackson, just to name a few. Some fabulous burlesque performances, hot classic cars (in my car show outfit), and some fancy bathing suits at the madatory pool party. I jokingly say "mandaotry" because the weather was soooo windy! Everyone wants/needs to be there... see and be seen!

The highlight of this year were the people I met. I did some stylish hair and got to share a lot of compliments with men and women. The rockabilly scene, I guess with any scene for that matter, has a tendancy to be "too cool for school", but not this year. Or at least I didn't pay any attention to it. Excited for next year!

Structural Integration 5

http://www.glamourembalmer.com/2/post/2010/03/structural-integration-5.html

http://www.glamourembalmer.com/2/post/2010/03/structural-integration-5.html#comments

Uncategorized

Session 5 focuses on connecting the upper body to the lower body through the pelvis (the psoas muscles (so-az). Well session four gave me new legs.

Still focusing on seperating the front from the back...this time on the legs. It's amazing what heels can do to your whole line. I am a huge fanatic of heels. And ladies, I highly recommend wearing flats to this session. I made the mistake of wearing not sooooo high heels and it felt foriegn walking out of the office. I immediately changed into a pair of flats I had in the car.

My posture feels even more in line. I have knee problems and, after completing this session, It already feels like something has been aleviated. It's hard to explain. There is a noticable difference in the way I walk and even the way my foot steps and rolls off the ground.

At the end of the session. Rama did some work on freeing up my vertabrae so that it would actually "roll" instead of just bending at my lower back. And of course, more movement excercises. How to properly sit from a standing position. I'm almost to the half way point of the series and I'm thrilled to experience such fulfilling changes in my body.

...A few days after this session, I notice my "old posture" was starting to feel more and more uncomfortable. Before session 5 I found it easier to adapt to my new upright posture. Still practicing my movement excercises.

For more information on SI visit www.ramadavis.com

<a href='http://www.glamourembalmer.com/uploads/3/2/3/9/3239745/3607920_orig.png' rel='lightbox[gallery635665912237380]' onclick='if (!window.lightboxLoaded) return false' title='Before- Notice external rotation on feet.
